I've got a good one for you.
Big Brother's class had a book exchange for Christmas. Of course I'm still running around daily like a chicken with my head cut off trying to make sure I've got everything done while taking care of kids because Daddy is traveling for business.
The night before I sneak in to Big Brother's room to grab the book. I know I have two copies of the book and so I just tiptoe into his room while he is sleeping. I scan the book to make sure it's the one that is blank inside, then sneak back out and wrap it up all cutes-y for his little classmate, Emma.
The next day his teacher tells me she has something to tell me as a friend, not as a teacher. She tells me that Emma's book was signed, "To: Big Brother With Love from Mamaw & Papaw"!!!! I guess I didn't check it hard enough. She had an extra book and tried to get her to take that one, but she was IN LOVE with the book from Big Brother.
So I call Emma's Mommy and sound like an ever-loving fool explaining to her my tiptoe-ing into Big Brother's room, scanning the book to make sure it was the right one, yadda yadda yadda.
See, Hallmark has a deal if you spend so much money you get a hardcover book for $3.95. We get those. I just gave her the one from last year, obviously.

Oh girl...I am feeling for you with that one!
Oh my - that is too funny. Feeling your re-gifting pain ;)
that sounds like something that would happen to me! hilarious.
Oh how funny. That sounds like something I would do!!
So funny.
Oooops! ;)
BUSTED...Ooops! I can totally see it happening!
Funny! My sister-in-law once gave someone a gift and they gave it back to the next year. We sure laughed about that!
Too Funny! I had a similar situation where a friend gave a frame for a Christening present that had her own child's initials monogrammed on it, not the baby's being Christened. And what's worse...the mother of the baby being Christened had given that very frame with the initials engraved to the friends child when it was born!!
Well, what is the rest of the story? Did you get the book back?
Funny story.
We recently visited friends and she handed me a Christmas gift to open. I did, and loved it. Alas, she shrieked and said, "Oh, no, that isn't the one for you!" Alas, I had to give it back -- it was for her daughter-in-law. My gift was nice, but I liked the other one better!
Oh that is hilarious!! Love it!
